All physical therapists and physical therapist assistants employed at Physical Therapy One have graduated from accredited physical therapy education programs. The staff has committed endless hours to the study of human development and movement and is required to practice state-of-the-art rehabilitation principles. Each therapist attends several seminars and meetings annually to expand their clinical knowledge and remain current on all the up to date research.
Joe Walters, M.S.P.T. (Co-owner)
Joe grew up in Kentucky and graduated from Eastern Kentucky University and Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. He has been a private practitioner since 1994 and practicing orthopedic physical therapy since 1990. Joe enjoys golf, classic cars, and spending quality time with his wife Leah and two children.
Leah Walters, B.S.P.T. (Co-owner)
Leah is a native of Kalamazoo. She graduated from Portage Northern High School in 1984. She attended Indiana University and graduated from the University of Illinois' physical therapy program in Chicago. Leah has been a physical therapist since 1989. She has extensive experience in neurologic rehabilitation and enjoys orthopedic treatment of all kinds. Her interest includes tennis, cooking, philanthropy, and spending quality time with her family.
Dr. Megan Cooper, P.T., D.P.T.
Megan is the director of the Stadium Drive location. She grew up in beautiful Traverse City, Michigan. She attended the University of Michigan where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Movement Science. She then attended Grand Valley State University and graduated in 2011 with her Doctorate in Physical Therapy. Her clinical interests include: geriatrics, and orthopedic, sports injuries and Women's health. Megan enjoys spending time with her husband and downhill skiing.
Mary-Teresa Fletter, M.S.P.T.
Mary-Teresa "M-T" was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri. She relocated to Kalamazoo after earning her Master's degree in Physical Therapy from Washington University in December 1998. Her clinical areas of interest include sports and orthopedic related injuries, and she enjoys clinical teaching. M-T is married with 2 young daughters. She enjoys playing soccer, being outdoors, and spending quality time with her family and friends.
Dr. Ellen Hector, P.T, D.P.T., C.O.M.T., I.T.P.T.
Ellen is the clinic director for the Vicksburg location. She was born and raised in the Detroit area. She graduated from Central Michigan University with her Bachelor's degree in Sports Medicine / Exercise Physiology / Athletic Training. She then attended the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and graduated with her Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2008. She holds specialties or extra training in Vestibular Rehabilitation, Clinical Education, ASTYM, Kinesiotaping, Manual Therapy and Orthopedics. She is married, has 2 beautiful sons, owns a dog and 2 cats. She enjoys being outside in any weather and minimizing her footprint.
Neal McCrum, M.P.T.
Neal McCrum is originally from Webberville, MI, but currently resides in Portage. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science from Grand Valley State University and a Master's in Physical Therapy form East Carolina University. His clinical interests include: orthopedic and sports related injuries. Neal enjoys spending time with his wife and golfing.
Dr. Kate Maurer, P.T., D.P.T.
Kate was born and raised in Frankenmuth, MI. She attended Saginaw Valley State University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology. She then attended Central Michigan University and graduated in 2013 with her Doctorate in Physical Therapy. Her clinical interests include: neurologic and orthopedic rehab. Kate enjoy spending time with her husband and family, as well as biking, and playing games of any kind.
Dr. Brenton Rozycki, D.P.T.
Brenton was born and raised in Boyne City, Michigan. He graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology and then went on to University of Michigan-Flint to receive his Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2011. His interests include orthopedic and sports rehab for both return to sport and injury prevention. Brenton and his wife have lived in Kalamazoo for the past 5 years and love partaking in all the great outdoor activities and craft breweries it has to offer! He also spends his free time rooting for the Spartans, BBQ'ing and raising his 3 year old Boxer(Tyson).
Dr. Keesha Shankle, D.P.T.
Keesha was born and raised in southwest Wisconsin. She received her undergraduate degree in Exercise Science at Western Michigan University and competed on Western's gymnastics team. She then attended Grand Valley State University and earned her Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2015. Her clinical interests include: pediatrics, orthopedic and sports injuries. She is married with a dog and cat (both with huge personalities), and enjoys spending time outdoors and cheering on her favorite sports teams. Go Packers, Badgers, Brewers, and WMU Broncos!
Shad Spears, A.T.C./P.T.A.
Shad grew up in South Dakota and is a transplant to Michigan. He is a graduate of Arapahoe Community College where he received his P.T.A. degree. His clinical interests include orthopedic and sports injuries. Shad enjoys the outdoors, sports, and family time with wife, son and 2 daughters.
Janice Shanlian, P.T.A.
Janice Shanlian was born and raised on the east side of the state. Graduated from Kellogg C.C with an associates degree in applied science. Also is a Certified Personal Trainer. Has worked as a P.T.A in outpatient orthopedics and pediatrics. Married her high school sweetheart and has raised 2 children. Enjoys being outside and working out.
Casie Parker, P.T.A.
Casie Parker was born and raised in Vicksburg, MI. She is a graduate of Kellogg Community College and is a licensed P.T.A. Casie loves spending time with her family, being outdoors, traveling and being adventurous.
Beth Stratton, P.T.A.
Beth Stratton was born and raised in the Flint area. She is a graduate of Mott Community College where she earned her P.T.A. degree. Beth's clinical interests are sports injuries, orthopedic, and concussion care. She enjoys watching sporting events, traveling, reading, and spending time with her husband, Nick, and dog, Scooby.
Sherie is a native of Portage and a graduate of Portage Central High School. She has worked with Physical Therapy One since November of 2001 as a transcriptionist and joined the office staff in January of 2005. She has 12 years of office experience and has been a childcare provider for the past 18 years. She enjoys cake decorating, motorcycle riding, and spending time with her family and friends. Sherie is happily married with two children.
Julie graduated from Portage Central High School and then went on to obtain her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from California State University Fullerton. She has 8 years of experience working in the healthcare industry. Julie enjoys spending time with her husband and two young children. Her favorite way to enjoy downtime is curled up on the couch with a good book, warm blanket, and cozy fire.
Megan grew up locally in Portage. A graduate of Portage Public Schools and is working on obtaining a degree at KVCC. Megan enjoys playing soccer and basketball, but most of all, spending quality time with her daughter and family.
Jody is a Michigan native, graduated from Delton Kellogg High. She has over 30 yrs of customer service experience which includes 8 years working in healthcare. Jody enjoys spending time with her family; especially her granddaughter and spending time at the lake.
Megan Clark grew up in Pennfield, Mi. Megan graduated from Kellogg Community College with her Associates in Science and then went on the Western Michigan University to get her Bachelors in Interdisciplinary Health Services. She plans to continue her education to a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. She loves spending time with her husband, two wonderful boys, and three dogs.
Carrie grew up in Holland, Michigan and is a graduate of Hope College with a degree in communications. She is happily married with 3 children and has lived in the Kalamazoo area since 2005. She enjoys traveling, cooking and spending time with her family.
